A spanish in London
06 / Aug / 2006 Sunday

Hello! I am Maria, I am a Spanish student and I have come to London to improve my spoken English because I am studying the Tourism career and I think is very important to speak English very well. I have come with other Spanish students and we are going to work here. Today we have arrived at Heathrow airport at 3 pm. A woman of the agency came to go with us to Catford, the place where we are living with a host family. There, they introduced me to my family and we take the 202 bus to go to their home which is in Lee. We dinner and I went to sleep because I was very tired. At home there are another students, a French and a Russian girl.

Soho

Today it has been my first day in London. We have had a meeting in the morning in St. Dunstand College, which is in Catford. In the afternoon, we have visited Soho. To go there, we took the train form Catford Bridge to London Bridge where we took the tube to go to Tottenham Court Road. Soho is a very nice area but there are lots of people.
08 / Aug / 2006 Tuesday

London Eye, House of the Parliament and Westminster Abbey
This morning we went to our English classes at the same school as yesterday. We have learnt some specific vocabulary for our jobs. It was interesting. We had lunch in Broadway Café, which is in Catford too, and it’s one of the cheapest cafes in Catford.

After lunch, we took the train to go to London Bridge and visit the Tower Bridge, which is marvellous, I love it. After that, we took the train from London Bridge to Charring Cross. There, we visited London Eye, it is huge, the House of the Parliament, which is situated on the other side of Thames River, and Westminster Abbey. This is a very beautiful area because you can see the river and all of these tourist buildings, the boat in the river…it is like a film!
When we took the train to came back home, we decided to get off at London Bridge Station to see the London Bridge and the Tower Bridge. I think that the Tower Bridge is much more beautiful than London Bridge, but this is my opinion…and the opinion of the people who were with me today.
09 / Aug / 2006 Wednesday
A cruise in the Thames
The person who is in charge of us has bought the tickets and we have been in a cruise along the river. We have taken the train from Catford Bridge station to Lewisham and there, we have taken the DLR to Cutty Sark. The boat started there. The cruise was for one hour and the sun was shinning, we had very nice views of the city. The cruise finished at Westminster Pier so we took the train and we went to home because we were very very tired.

10 / Aug / 2006 Thursday
Madame Tussauds

This afternoon we have been in the Madame Tussauds Museum which is in Marylebone Road, close to Bank tube station, on the central line. I like the museum but I thought it was going to be bigger or with much more sculptures. I saw Will Smith, Penelope Cruz, Nicolas Cage, Johnny Deep. Orlando Bloom, etc. It seems like real people, you could touch them. Although it is a very interesting museum, it’s very expensive and it is always crowded so you cannot move so much.
First weekend in London
Saturday
Porto Bello- Notting Hill
Every Saturday there is a market in Porto Bello, so we decided to go there and go shopping. This a huge flea market where you can find all that you want. We spent all morning there but it was huge and we didn’t see all the market.

Sunday
Camden Town
Like Saturday we were in a market, on Sunday we decided going to another market in Camden Town. I liked this market very much because it’s a melting pot of very different cultures, which are together and nobody have problems for dress strange clothes or for having an strange hair. In Camden Town you can find very strange things.
